Landmark Historic Theater Building For Sale In New London
A long-abandoned theater building in downtown hit the market recently and offers an opportunity for redevelopment.

NEW LONDON, CT — A historic building that formerly hosted a theater is for sale in Downtown New London.
The property at 35 Bank St. is listed for $375,000. The property has an 11,000-square-foot footprint and is "ready to be refurbished or re-purposed with potential for adding floors and multiple revenue streams," according to a Berkshire-Hathaway listing.
The building was constructed in 1921 as a Vaudeville theater and was later used as a movie theater.

A new roof was added in 2010.
The current owner of the building, Industrial Renaissance Inc., a Westport-based company, purchased the building in 2016 for $68,000, The Hartford Business Journal reported.

The owner looked at potential redevelopment options including converting the building into mixed-use with apartments but never moved forward with it.
The building next door, the former Metropolitan Hotel building, is also for sale.
