New London Hospital Named High Performing For Maternity Care
The designation is the highest level awarded in the publication's annual Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings.
NEW LONDON, CT — Lawrence + Memorial Hospital has been recognized as a 2026 High Performing hospital for maternity care by U.S. News & World Report.
The designation is the highest level awarded in the publication’s annual Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings. It is the first time L+M has earned the honor.
U.S. News evaluated 901 hospitals nationwide for the 2026 list. Ninety-two received the High Performing rating, which is based on measures such as complication rates, Cesarean deliveries, and exclusive breast milk feeding.

L+M operates a 24-bed maternity unit and the Southeastern Connecticut’s only Level IIIA neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital has been designated a Baby Friendly facility for 12 years and offers breastfeeding support after discharge.

U.S. News began evaluating maternity hospitals in 2021. The ratings rely on objective data, including C-section rates, newborn complication rates and breast milk feeding rates.
