New London Library Hosting Book Sale, Tree Walk

May's calendar of events features community knitting day and Art Behind the Story, for children.

The Public Library of New London is hosting the following events in May.

Thursday, May 12

  • Community Knit: 10 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Art Behind The Story: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Come listen to a story and make a related craft with Ms. Christa in the Children's Reading Room
  • Reunion Committee Meeting: 6 to 7 p.m.; Location, Local History Room

Friends Book Sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Learn to identify some of the more common and most unusual specimens planted in New London
  • This tour is for anyone interested in nature in the city

New London Community Orchestra Violin Lessons for Children: 4 to 5 p.m.

  • New London Community Orchestra is now offering 2 new sessions of free violin lessons for children (grades 6-9) starting May 3
  • Instruments will be provided free of charge, and children may take their violin home to practice
  • Lessons are in small groups with a professional teacher
  • Session 1 will be 4 to 4:30 p.m., and Session 2 will be 4:30 to 5 p.m.
