New London Senior Balances Athletics, Leadership And Academics
Alex Churis, class vice president and multi-sport captain, has left a lasting legacy at New London High.

Alex Churis, a senior at New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus, was recognized by his school as one of the district’s most outstanding student-athletes—and with good reason. A four-year varsity soccer player, three-year fencing standout and longtime member of the tennis team, Alex has not only played at the highest level but has also captained all three sports. Off the field, he serves as vice president of the Class of 2025 and ranks second in his class with an impressive 4.8158 weighted GPA. He has also taken three AP and five college-level courses,
Alex’s dedication extends beyond academics and athletics, as he’s completed more than double the required community service hours for graduation. Known for his maturity and sportsmanship, Alex has earned praise from his fencing coach, Chris Baker, who called him “extremely coachable” and a leader who sets “a positive tone for the entire team.”
Whether mentoring teammates, setting an example in the classroom or serving his community, Alex has embraced every opportunity at New London High. A true example of well-rounded excellence, he’s made a lasting impact on the Whaler community.
The future is certainly looking bright in New London! If you know another Star Student making an impact, nominate them today to be featured on Patch!
