Mercer Community Hall and Planned Parenthood received a boost in the form of state grants.
NEW LONDON, CT — The State Bond Commission has approved funds for two economic development projects in New London.
One is a $4 million grant for Mercer Community Hall. The city is partnering with the Garde Arts Center to "enhance community engagement and accessibility through the arts," according to a statement from Gov. Ned Lamont.
The grant will fund the renovation and expansion of the Mercer Community Hall to offer affordable event space, support arts and workforce opportunities, and retain activities within the city.

The funds going to New London were part of $77 million that went to 35 projects across the state.
“Through this grant program, we are helping municipalities throughout Connecticut make improvements in underserved areas that will enhance their economic vibrancy and revitalize neighborhoods,” Lamont said in a statement. “I am glad that we can partner with these towns and cities and other organizations to make these improvements that will drive growth in our state.”
Projects include supporting affordable housing, brownfield remediation, infrastructure, and public facilities, as well as small business support programs that provide revolving loans, gap financing, microloans, or start-up financing.
