O’Neal was likely in the state for an NBA Hall of Fame ceremony, The Middletown Press reported. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is in Springfield, MA, but the ceremony, which started Friday, was moved this year to Mohegan Sun Casino to provide more space.

Those to be inducted into the Hall of Fame include O’Neal’s former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant, who died in a 2020 helicopter crash.
