The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for New London County.

...VERY HEAVY SNOW AND BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHEAST CONNECTICUT AND THE FORKS OF LONG ISLAND...
Radar showed a nearly stationary band of very heavy snow capable of producing snowfall of 2 to 4 inches per hour, extending from near Jewett City to New London across Long Island Sound to Orient and Southampton. The very heavy snow, along with north winds gusting up to 45 mph, is producing blizzard conditions, with near zero visibility and considerable blowing and drifting of snow.

The snow will accumulate so rapidly that it will be extremely difficult for road crews to keep roads clear. Travel is strongly discouraged! If you must travel, bring a winter survival kit. If
