Touring 'Percussion Sensation' STOMP Makes Stop At New London School
The group held a performance and workshop at New London High School earlier this week.

NEW LONDON, CT — International percussion sensation STOMP brought their beats and dance moves to the New London High School stage for a student workshop, courtesy of Garde Arts Center. The performance was Monday.
Four members of the global touring group demonstrated how they use non-conventional instruments, including match boxes, wooden poles, brooms, and garbage cans, to "create magnificent sounds that have delighted audiences for close to three decades," according to a district statement.
Students also had the opportunity to participate in a choreographed dance piece.

"The workshop is one of the many community partner projects between the Garde and New London Public School’s that enhance enrichment and expose students to multiple art forms, like music, dance, theatre and visual arts," according to a district statement.
The next stop on STOMP’s North American Tour was the Garde for two performances on April 1. Over 950 students from 12 school districts, including New London, were treated to a live performance.
