Victim Sustains 'Serious' Injuries During Assault, Man Charged: New London Police
Police said the victim sustained serious injuries.
NEW LONDON, CT — A New London man has been charged on a warrant in connection with a "serious" assault that occurred in July, police said.
At 10:14 p.m. July 7, police responded to an apartment at 179 Colman St., New London, for the report of an unconscious male, police said.
Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious and unresponsive adult male, police said. Additionally, the male appeared to have sustained facial trauma, police said. The man was subsequently transported to L+M Hospital for medical treatment. The scene was secured and a canvass of the location was initiated, police said.

New London police detectives along with the Connecticut State Police-Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London State's Attorney’s office responded to investigate the incident. The victim’s injuries were determined to be serious, police said.
On Monday, police arrested Matthew Ellis, 28, of New London on a warrant with first-degree assault.
