Friendly bell ringers greet shoppers with holiday cheer

The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign is off to a good start, according to Pastor Herb Rader of the New London Salvation Army. Rader said the Red Kettle campaign is just one of the ways the Salvation Army unites the community's hearts and resources.

"We hope that as people contribute to the kettles, as people are part of this Red Kettle Campaign that they…can be part of this idea of hope in creating a better future," he said. "I think that we can all do that, we can work together as a community and that's what I would love for us to do during this Christmas season."

Rader said the regional goal for this year's fundraiser is $130,000. The red kettles can be found outside most grocery stores and department stores until Christmas. Donations are also accepted online at the Salvation Army's online kettle campaign.
