Waterford Man Shot By State Police Following Car Chase
Corey Keith was arrested after being treated for his injuries. A state trooper was also treated for minor injuries after Keith allegedly drove his vehicle at police following a car chase that ended in Plainfield.

A state trooper shot and injured a Waterford man after he allegedly drove his vehicle at troopers following a car chase that ended in Plainfield on Saturday night.Â
According to police, Corey Keith, 44, of Waterford was spotted driving erratically along Route 12 in Plainfield but refused to obey officers' signals to stop. Other state troopers joined in pursuit on I-395 southbound. According to a report by the Associated Press, the chase ended when Keith allegedly drove his car into police vehicles and at an officer who was outside his vehicle.Â
Keith was taken to Backus Hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound before being taken into custody. One police officer was also treated for minor injuries at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.Â
Channel 8 reports that Keith was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the chase. A passenger riding with Keith at the time was uninjured and faces no criminal charges as a result of the incident.Â
