NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Police Department is investigating two motor vehicle mishaps reported this past week.
A 42-year-old Newtown woman was injured shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, when she was struck by a U-Haul truck in front of Edmond Town Hall.
The truck, driven by an Owl Ridge Lane resident, backed up into the pedestrian who was walking up the steps of the building.

The pedestrian, from New Fairfield, sustained injuries to her left ankle, and was taken to Danbury Hospital by Newtown Volunteer EMS.
The incident is under investigation.

At 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 8, Ring doorbell surveillance captured a silver sedan of undefinable make or model strike and damage a stop sign.
The car was traveling westbound on Platts Hill Road near the intersection of Palestine Road.
The motorist failed to keep in their proper lane, and evaded responsibility, according to police.
A criminal investigation is pending.
