Cooling Centers Opens In North Branford As Temperatures Soar
Gov. Ned Lamont directed the state's "Extreme Hot Weather Protocol" activated effective today through noon Sunday.
NORTH BRANFORD, CT —As the Governor activated the state's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol in light of oppressive temperatures and humidity now through Sunday, and to ensure vulnerable residents have protection available, the town has opened cooling centers for the duration.
Now through noon Sunday, June 23 the following locations will serve as cooling centers:
North Branford Town Hall – 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mon. -Fri.
909 Foxon Road, North Branford
Atwater Memorial Library – 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Mon. – Sun.
1720 Foxon Road, North Branford

The main entrance at the library location will remain open until 8:00 p.m. Those needing cooling
shelter will be able to access the main entrance, community room, and bathroom at any point
during the day. The Town Hall will be open for shelter only between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
Residents can also dial 2-1-1 or visit 211ct.org to find additional sheltering locations near them.
