Decision Made On Whether North Branford Cops Can Have Beards

Police Chief received a request from the police union for the officers to be able to wear beards on duty.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT - North Branford police officers can now have closely cropped beards, as a new policy allowing goatees was approved at the most recent Board of Police Commission meeting.

At the November meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners, Acting Police Chief James Lovelace said he had received a request from the police union for police to be able to have beards - something that is currently not allowed.

Lovelace said he had “no problem” with the request as long as the beards were closely cropped “military-style.”

The commissioners agreed to discuss the request further, and possibly take action, at an upcoming meeting.

That action - unanimous approval - was taken at the December 10th meeting.
