Fatal Overdose Leads to Northford Woman's Arrest

A 59-year-old woman allegedly sold narcotics to an individual who died from a narcotics-related overdose in Durham last year.

On Sept. 30, 2015, a person died in Durham due to an overdose from an unknown narcotic. An investigation was opened into the death, the Middletown Press reported.

By conducting interviews and via evidence at the scene, police were able to trace the alleged source of the narcotics to Northford. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, police arrested Northford resident Joann Tancreto, 59, of Long Pond Road, as the alleged drug dealer.

She was arrested on the following charges and issued a $5,000 non-surety bond and a March 9 court date:

  • Providing a false statement in the second degree
  • Illegal sale/delivery of narcotics
