In Memoriam: Joyce M. Battista
The Northford resident passed away Jan. 20 at the age of 80.

Joyce Marie Logvin Battista of Northford died January 20, 2016.
She was born in Meriden on October 15, 1935, a daughter of the late Larion J. and Sophie Renckowski Logvin and wife of the late Arthur C. Battista Sr.

She graduated from Lyman Hall High School as valedictorian in 1953. After marrying her husband in 1957, she worked with him managing his well drilling business, was a homemaker and mother. She loved reading, cross stitch and doing crossword puzzles, having people over to the house and enjoying her time with family and friends.
She is survived by her son Michael J. Battista, daughter Diane M. Battista, daughter-in-law Miriam Tofig Battista of North Haven and Barbara Hogan Battista of Hamden; her grandchildren Christopher M. Battista of Hamden, Laura E. Battista of Southbury, Kevin A. Battista of Spokane, Sarah E. Battista of Boston, Jaiah R. Rashid of Northford.

She was predeceased by her son Arthur C. Battista Jr., her brother William Logvin Sr., her sisters Helen Penci, and Stella Kuusisto.
Family and friends may call Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Rd., North Branford. A private burial will be held on Tuesday at St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital , Edward Smith Library, Gaylord Hospital.
