North Branford Police K9 Chance Tracks, Catches, Branford 'Suspects' Through Driving Rain, Heavy Brush

Thursday afternoon, Cpl. Cosenza and K9 Chance helped Branford police near Route 139 "located the suspects in heavy brush on a river bank.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Thursday, through pouring, driving rain, over heavy brush, through commercial complexes and finally, down train tracks for over a mile and half, North Branford police K9 Chance tracked people fleeing Branford police after a car crash.

Corporal Cosenza and Chance helped Branford police just before 2 p.m. near Route 139 "located the suspects in heavy brush on a river bank, and they were subsequently taken into custody," North Branford police said on Facebook.

One of the suspects had multiple outstanding warrants, including first-degree escape, police said.

"We are thankful for the dedication and performance of our Canine Handler Corporal Cosenza and Canine Chance for their outstanding work." police said. "We are also thankful for Dispatcher Kenneth Zercie who was crucial in this apprehension."
