Two North Branford Police Officials Win Connecticut Courage Award

The officers were investigating a burglary when the incident spiraled and their subsequent duties got them recognition.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT -Two North Branford Police Officers were recently awarded statewide ‘Courage of Connecticut’ awards for acts of bravery on duty.

Police Chief James Lovelace said: “Sergeant Lemmons and Officer Miserendino responded to Sea Hill road to investigate a burglary which had just occurred. As they arrived in the area they located the offending vehicle.

“A small pursuit ensued into the dead end of Sea Hill Road. The officers exited their marked cruisers and began giving verbal orders to the occupants of the vehicle. The vehicle accelerated forward and struck Officer Miserendino’s vehicle.

“The vehicle then reversed striking Officer Lemmons and knocking him to the ground. The vehicle fled the scene and another pursuit ensued when the vehicle became disabled. The occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody,” Lovelace said.
