Chester P. DeMio, 88, WWII Army Vet

Chester P. DeMio, 88, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.

Chester P. DeMio, 88, of Norwalk, beloved husband of Beatrice (Diotte) DeMio, died on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Norwalk, he was a graduate of Norwalk High School Class of ’42, he received his Associate’s Degree from Norwalk Community Technical College.

Chester was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 107th Cavalry Recon Squadron in Europe, and worked for Remington Rand/ Univac Division and Pitney Bowes. Chester was also an avid golfer, a Boy Scout Leader and had received the Life Scout Award.

In addition to Beatrice, his wife of 61 years,  he is survived by their children; Carrie Turreck and her husband William of Shelton, Linda Knott of Middlesex, NJ and Jim DeMio of Waterbury, as well as a granddaughter Melissa Knott, a brother Angelo DeMio, 2 sisters Madeline Borgia and Carol Lippa, and many nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 7 at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
