NORWALK, CT — Two residents escaped a fire that broke out on the front porch of their Norwalk home Monday night after Good Samaritans alerted them of the blaze, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Maggio said a structure fire was reported at a Woodward Avenue home around 8 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found the front porch heavily involved in fire. Good Samaritans from Hugo's Landscaping, who were playing soccer across the street when the fire broke out, were attempting to extinguish the blaze with a garden hose when crews arrived, Maggio said.
