Norwalk BOE Appoints New Assistant Principal, Magnet STEAM Supervisor

The Board of Education recently appointed a new assistant principal and a new Magnet STEAM supervisor at two Norwalk elementary schools.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Board of Education held a special meeting Thursday to appoint a new assistant principal for SoNo Elementary School, as well as a new Magnet STEAM supervisor at Kendall College and Career Academy.

According to a news release provided by Norwalk Public Schools, Randall Austin will serve as the new assistant principal of SoNo Elementary School. He most recently served as the assistant principal of Kendall College and Career Academy and has served the KCCA community since 2013 in various capacities.

Miranda Getz will become the new Magnet STEAM Supervisor at Kendall College and Career Academy. She has most recently served as the acting assistant principal of Cranbury Elementary School, according to the district.

Austin served Kendall Career and College Academy as an enhanced curriculum teacher from 2018 to 2021, a fifth grade teacher from 2017 to 2018 and a kindergarten teacher from 2015 to 2017. He started his career at Kendall as a kindergarten paraprofessional from 2013 to 2014.

He has also served as a reading interventionist for one year at Brookside Elementary School in the 2014-15 school year, according to the district.

Austin has also served as a parent university instructor through Norwalk's Parent University and as a lead program coordinator for the After The Bell Carver Foundation.

Getz has served as the acting assistant principal of Cranbury Elementary School since January. Prior to that, she served as a math coach for Cranbury Elementary School since 2019.

She has also held elementary education positions in the Ridgefield School District, Bethel School District and Sprague School District, according to district officials.
