Norwalk's Manresa Island Pitched For A Public Park: Report

The 125-acre property has been vacant for a decade, after the coal-fired power plant was closed.

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk's Manresa Island, which holds an abandoned utility site, could become a public park, under a proposal by local residents Austin and Allison McChord, The Hour reported.

The McChords intend to buy the 125-acre property to create the ecological waterfront park, which would also include an event space.

A website for the proposal can be viewed here. A non-profit entity, Manresa Island Corporation, has been launched to spearhead the project.
