Pediatrician Charged With Sexual Assault, Risk Of Injury: Reports

NORWICH, CT — Dr. Ravi Prakash of Prakash Pediatrics has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, according to media reports and the state's judicial branch website.

Online court records show that Prakash was charged on June 28, and that he posted a $50,000 bond. He will be arraigned at Superior Court in Norwich on July 11 at 10 a.m.

WTNH News 8 reported that local police received a "complaint of sexual assault" against Prakash in May, which led to an investigation and later an arrest. No other details about the incident have been released by police.

The New London Day reports that police interviewed a juvenile patient and parent as part of their investigation. The Day also reports that the alleged incident is related to the doctor's practice.

The state judicial website lists fourth-degree sexual assault as a "Class A misdemeanor," while risk of injury is considered a "Class C felony."
