Police: Duo Nabbed Making $3K Fraudulent Purchase

Orange Police arrest two New Yorkers at Best Buy.

Two New Yorkers were arrested in Orange Wednesday after they allegedly tried to buy nearly $3,000 worth of merchandise with fake ID's.

The arrests were made at Best Buy, 53 Boston Post Road, after police received a call from the store about attempted fraud at 4:06 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Both suspects — Allison McVey, 23, and Daquan Bruce, 28 — were charged with:

  • Third-degree larceny 
  • Second-degree forgery (3 counts)
  • Third-degree identity theft
  • Making a false statement to procure a credit card
  • Criminal impersonation
  • Sixth-degree larceny 
  • Conspiracy to commit each of the above charges
McVey was held on a $10,000 bond, and Bruce on a $15,000 bond. Both were scheduled to appear in court Jan. 30.
