New Year’s Day Fire Temporarily Closes Fritz’s Snack Bar In Oxford
Firefighters responded around 5:30 a.m., and at least one person was taken to the hospital, police said.
OXFORD, CT — Firefighters responded to a structure fire at Fritz's Snack Bar early New Year’s Day, according to the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company.
Crews were dispatched around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 and arrived to find smoke pushing from a second-floor window. Fire officials said the fire was contained to a second-floor apartment above the restaurant.

At least one person was transported to the hospital to be evaluated, police said.
Following the incident, the restaurant shared an update with customers, saying no one was hurt, but the business will temporarily close to allow for cleanup.

“Hoping to reopen soon,” the post stated. “We will keep you updated.”
Oxford EMS and the Oxford Police Department also responded to the scene, and mutual aid partners assisted during the incident.
