Overnight Garage Fire Stopped Before Spreading Into Oxford Home

OXFORD, CT — Firefighters quickly contained an overnight garage fire that began spreading toward a home’s attic, according to the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company.

Crews said they were dispatched around midnight Monday for a reported garage or electrical fire. When firefighters arrived, they found flames burning inside the wall between the house and the garage, with the fire starting to extend into the attic.

The first arriving crew stretched a hose and knocked down the fire before it could spread further. Firefighters stayed on scene until about 2 a.m. to overhaul the area and check for any remaining hot spots, officials say.
