Oxford, Seymour Teams Qualify For CIAC Postseason Tournament Action

OXFORD-SEYMOUR, CT — Brackets have been released by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) for its upcoming state tournaments in baseball, softball and girls tennis, and several teams from Oxford and Seymour high schools have qualified to compete in quests for state championships.

The girls tennis team from Seymour is seeded 16th in Class M with a 10-6 record, and is scheduled to host a qualifying match Friday at 3 p.m. against No. 17 Joel Barlow.

Softball teams from both schools will host first-round games Monday in the Class M tournament. Seymour (16-4), seeded seventh, takes on No. 26 Goodwin Tech at 3:30 o.m., while No. 13 Oxford (13-6) entertains 20th-seeded Stonington at 4:30 p.m.

On the baseball diamond, Seymour (13-7) is seeded No. 12 in Class M, and will host No. 21 Foran at 3:45 p.m. In Class S, Oxford (11-9), seeded 15th, takes on No. 18 Cromwell at 2:15 p.m.
