Oxford Secures Funding For Storm-Damage Repairs
The grant will allow Oxford to clear debris and improve water flow in the Little River after severe flooding, according to legislators.
OXFORD, CT — State funding approved this week will support storm recovery efforts in Oxford, according to an announcement from state Sen. Eric Berthel.
The State Bond Commission approved a reallocation of $782,685 in previously awarded grant-in-aid funding to the Town of Oxford for dredging and debris removal along the Little River and other waterways damaged by recent storm flooding. The action broadens the scope of how funds originally allocated to the town in August can be used.
The Little River sustained significant damage during last year’s severe storms, with flooding impacting nearby properties and businesses along the river’s floodplain. The funding will allow the town to clear debris along riverbanks and below the water’s surface to help restore natural water flow.

The Southbury Training School continues to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, many of whom are elderly. Earlier this year, state officials reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the facility open. The approved funding is intended to improve living and working conditions for both residents and staff.
The State Bond Commission approved both funding items following authorization by the state legislature.
