Oxford Teen Killed In Motorcycle Crash In Derby: Police

Derby police said the 16-year-old Oxford resident was significantly injured after losing control and being ejected from the motorcycle.

DERBY, CT — A 16-year-old Oxford resident was killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday after losing control of the bike in Derby, according to police.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Derby police said the fatal crash happened on Seymour Avenue.

According to police, witness accounts, video surveillance and physical evidence revealed the teen was "operating the motorcycle in a reckless manner."

After losing control, the teen was ejected from the bike and sustained significant injuries, police said. He was taken to Griffin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the juvenile did not have a driver's license and the motorcycle was determined to be stolen.

The road was closed between Griffin Hospital and Spring Street for several hours Wednesday night as officers investigated the crash.
