Danbury Invites Community To Join Downtown Scarecrow Decorating Contest
CityCenter Danbury invites businesses, schools and families to decorate scarecrows for display downtown with prizes up to $500.

DANBURY, CT — CityCenter Danbury is inviting local businesses, organizations, schools and families to take part in its annual “Fall in Love with Downtown” scarecrow decorating contest.
Participants will be given a 5-foot scarecrow frame to stuff and decorate, with finished entries displayed on downtown lamp posts. The scarecrows will also be featured on CityCenter’s social media platforms and in its weekly e-newsletter.
Registration forms must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 19. Frames can be picked up at CityCenter’s office at 268 Main Street. Completed scarecrows are due back by Monday, Sept. 29.

Entries will be judged on creativity, color and use of recycled, weather-resistant materials. Organizers encourage whimsical, funny or historical designs but ask participants to avoid scary, political or religious themes.
Prizes include a $500 first-place award and five runner-up prizes of $100 gift certificates to downtown businesses.

CityCenter has spearheaded a number of downtown beautification projects in recent years, including murals, sculptures, planter baskets, garden improvements and holiday decorations. The scarecrow contest is intended to build on those efforts while bringing the community together.
