Enhanced Traffic Lights On Tap For Ridgefield Main Street Project

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Main Street Project is moving forward with a few significant upgrades.

The final stages will begin Sunday evening, Jan. 15 with the installation of new traffic lights, poles, wiring, and pedestrian crossing signals between Governor Street and Prospect Street, including the intersection at Bailey Avenue.

The enhanced lights will ultimately allow traffic to flow more efficiently and further reduce congestion along Main Street, according to town officials. Work on the poles and lights will include the completion of residual concrete work at the corners.

Town officials anticipate this work will conclude by March 1, pending any delays due to the weather, according to a news release. All work will be done between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.

The final step will be the painting of permanent striping along Main Street and at all intersection crosswalks, completed during the early spring as the weather improves.

“The Project has enhanced the beauty and safety of downtown and will create a smoother flow of traffic. It is my strong belief that the outcome of the Project will be one that all Ridgefielders will be proud of,” said First Selectman Rudy Marconi.
