Gas Prices In Ridgefield Under Pressure As Crude Oil Costs Flare Up

RIDGEFIELD, CT — As oil prices continue to climb, upward pressure is increasing on gasoline prices across the Northeast, according to analysts at AAA Northeast.

In Ridgefield, the best price for a gallon of regular fuel is $3.29 at the Stateline Exxon at 242 South Salem Road. The Gulf at 115 Danbury Road will charge $3.55. The update was posted Monday by shopping app GasBuddy.

Last week, crude oil prices rose about $3 in response to the announcement of more U.S. sanctions against Russian petroleum products, which could significantly hamper supplies of Russian oil exports to China and India, according to the AAA Northeast report.

Here in Connecticut, a gallon of self-service regular is averaging $3.02, one cent lower than a month ago and 12 cents lower than this day last year $3.15. The current national average is unchanged from last week, averaging $3.06 per gallon. Today’s national average is four cents higher than a month ago and one cent lower than this day last year.

Today, Oklahoma and Mississippi have the lowest prices in the nation at $2.58 and $2.61, respectively. Hawaii and California hold the highest prices in the nation this week at $4.52 and $4.38, respectively. Connecticut holds the 17th place on the list of highest gas prices in the nation. Average gas prices may be obtained here online daily.

"The rise in oil prices heightens the odds of pump prices following suit," said Lauren Fabrizi, spokesperson for AAA Northeast. "Oil prices climbing nearly $10 a barrel over the past 30 days is starting to have a significant impact on petroleum markets, especially since gasoline prices typically start to gradually climb in the first quarter ahead of spring."
