Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Southern Connecticut

If you love thunderstorms, then you'll love this forecast. Here are the new details on a stormy forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties for the chance of strong thunderstorms on Sunday. "A few thunderstorms on Sunday could produce strong wind gusts," the weather service said in a Saturday morning update.

Actually, the chance for thunderstorms begins late tonight and in the overnight hours on Sunday and through early Sunday afternoon. A significant rain/thunderstorm event is also possible on Tuesday, which isn't a bad thing since we need the rain.

The weather service says, "High pressure along the coast will maintain an onshore flow of stable but warmer and more humid air today. As the high weakens tonight, a slow moving cold front will approach, with showers and thunderstorms are likely mainly tonight into Sunday morning.

There should be a short break in rain chances from late Sunday night into most of Monday as this front weakens, then a more significant cold front should bring more showers and thunderstorms from late day Monday into Wednesday morning. Some heavy rain may be possible Tuesday afternoon and night as the front moves through."
