WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Very icy conditions outside! The rain that is falling is actually freezing on everything! Expect more icing through the morning inland and at the Shoreline. The temperature will get above freezing at the Shoreline later on this afternoon. This whole mess will end later today into the evening. Some sun tomorrow morning followed by late snow squalls. Much colder weather on Thursday with highs only in the teens and 20s."

Big Weather Changes On The Way

Today's ice storm pulls away tonight. Up to a quarter of an inch of ice is expected across the interior where freezing rain will continue through most of the day. Temperatures today will be in the mid 30s across the interior and into the lower 40s along the coast.

Precipitation will end quickly tonight as the low departs the region with a clearing sky. Temperatures will range from the lower 20s to around 30 degrees.

Additional snow showers are possible on Wednesday behind a strong polar cold front. High temperatures in the afternoon will be in the 30s to around 40, but will plummet behind the front into the single digits across the interior and in the teens elsewhere. With gusty winds overnight, wind chill temperatures will be below zero into Thursday morning.

On Thursday, the high temps will only be in the mid 20s and at night temps will drop into the teens. The same is expected on Friday. We'll see the coldest air of the season on Thursday and Friday.
