The Hickories Offers 2017 Agriculture Shares

The Hickories, an organic farm in Ridgefield, is now selling its community-supported agriculture shares for the 2017 growing season.

From The Hickories: The Hickories’ 2017 CSA Shares are now available to all!

The Hickories, an organic farm in Ridgefield, is now selling its community-supported agriculture shares (CSAs) for the 2017 growing season on the farm’s website.

With CSA Day (February 24th), The Hickories is celebrating fresh, delicious fruits and vegetables. CSAs offer community members the opportunity to buy truly local and seasonal food directly from their farmer by purchasing a “share” in the farm. As shareholders, members receive a weekly allotment of the farm’s harvest. Shareholders share in both the risks and the many rewards of the growing season, which include weekly access to certified organic vegetables and pick-your-own fruits — all grown at The Hickories.

How do CSAs work at The Hickories? Once a week, shareholders come to the farm to pick up their “share” of the harvest, a variety of organic vegetables and fruits harvested that day. Pick-up times are between 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the designated pick-up day. Shareholders are also offered free or reduced pricing on events like farm tours and baby animal visits. There are three options available:

  • The Spring CSA runs for 5 weeks — Friday pickup ($150)
  • The Summer CSA starts in the beginning of June and runs through the end of September, roughly 16 weeks depending on the season — Monday, Wednesday, or Friday pickup ($625)
  • The Fall CSA begins in early October and continues through to Thanksgiving — Friday pick up ($280)
  • The Super Share is a discounted price for purchasing all 3 CSA seasons at once ($1000)
  • A Spring Share includes salad mixes, radishes, scallions, pea shoots, kale, flowers, and our preserved harvest, such as jam or marinara.
  • A Summer Share may include tomatoes, greens, blueberries or strawberries, squash, melon, lettuce, herbs, snap beans, turnips or carrots, and several bouquets of our organic flowers.
