'Kind, Determined And Goal-Oriented': Ridgefield Star Student Athlete

RIDGEFIELD, CT — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Susan Combs who nominated her friend Ava, of Ridgefield.

Swimming

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Ava works harder than anyone I know. She goes to 10 practices a week, two that are at 5:00 am before school, is a good team player for her teammates and is a role model for others. At school and at swim she works hard and is always available to her coaches and friends.

She takes criticism well when she needs to fix things and gets back in and works on what needs to be changed. She cheers everyone on and never talks about herself.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete

That she is kind, determined and goal-oriented.
