Here's When Power Will Be Fully Restored In CT: Eversource

Utilities are still scrambling to restore power for Connecticut residents.

CONNECTICUT —Electricity has yet to be restored to a little over 6,500 residents as of noon Monday.

Power utility officials have promised that "the vast majority" of their Connecticut customers will see their juice restored by midnight Monday, according to the governor.

"Hardest hit areas – like Canterbury and Lisbon – may require more complex and time-consuming repairs," an Eversource spokesman tweeted.

The outages are in the wake of Tropical Storm Henri, which blew through the state on Sunday. The damages were far less severe in Connecticut than forecast, with the storm making landfall much further east than expected.

As of noon Monday, 6,502 Eversource customers are still in the dark, as are 113 residents who get their electricity from United Illuminating.

The restoration of power went more smoothly than the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias, where some the power to some towns was off for 10 days. During a news conference on Sunday night, Lamont chalked the success up to utilities calling in extra help.

"There were 6,500 beds filled with utility workers last night" in the state, called in from around the country, according to Lamont. The governor said he would be releasing some of them on Monday to assist with power restoration efforts in Rhode Island, which was hit much harder by the storm.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to linger in Connecticut on Monday, and will present some risk of flash flooding when combined with the already saturated ground.
