Marconi: State Considering Ways to Save Trees Along Ridgefield's Main Street

As part of an overall traffic improvement strategy.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — As the town and state study ways to improve traffic on Main Street in Ridgefield, saving the trees that line the street remains an important goal, according to First Selectman Rudy Marconi.

The Ridgefield Press reports that through lanes are being discussed for Main Street, which would allow traffic to more smoothly flow down the street as other vehicles look to turn onto side roads.

But town officials hope that those and other infrastructure improvements will likely not come at the expense of cutting down the trees. Marconi and Ridgefield Conservation Commission member Jim Coyle appeared to be optimistic about saving the trees, but additional study will be needed.
