Motorist Was Using Cellphone At Time Of Ridgefield Fatal Crash: Police

A Stamford woman was has been charged with using a cellphone while driving in connection with a fatal crash in Ridgefield.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — A Stamford woman was has been charged with using a cellphone while driving in connection with a fatal crash in Ridgefield in May.

Kelsey Gallagher, 33, of Tesser Boulevard, turned herself in to Ridgefield police headquarters Thursday on an outstanding warrant, Ridgefield police Capt. Jeff Raines said.

Other charges on the arrest warrant included misconduct with a motor vehicle and failure to drive right.

The accident occurred in the area of Ethan Allen Highway and New Road on May 20. Police responded to the scene around 11:17 a.m. and found two cars with severe damage, according to their report.

One motorist, Debora Farrington, 70, of Washington Depot, was taken to Danbury Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The other driver, Gallagher, refused medical assistance after the crash, according to Raines.

Police released Gallagher on a written promise to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 18.
