RIDGEFIELD, CT — A 12th straight week of rising gasoline inventories and falling oil prices has kept the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline across the Northeast holding steady, according to a report released Monday from AAA Northeast.

In Ridgefield, the best price for a gallon of regular fuel is $3.45 at the Stateline Exxon at 242 South Salem Road. The price is $4.09 at the Shell at 130 Danbury Road. The update was posted Tuesday morning by shopping app GasBuddy.

The price of crude oil, which accounts for more than half the cost to produce gasoline, fell last week by about 3 percent, but early signs of spring are popping up in petroleum markets, AAA Northeast analysts say. The higher costs are beginning to appear in futures markets, with prices for March delivery of gasoline climbing last week by about 2.5 percent.
