Ridgefield Holds Off On Signing Grove Street Site Lease Agreement

The property is the proposed site for the Alternative High School and Ridgefield Transition 18-22 Programs.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield has not signed the lease agreement for the property at 66 Grove St., which is the proposed location for the town's Alternative High School and Ridgefield Transition 18-22 Programs.

First Selectman Rudy Marconi and Schools Superintendent Dr. Susie Da Silva announced the decision in a letter to the community posted on Facebook on Thursday.

Earlier this month, residents approved a referendum for the town to enter into a lease agreement concerning the property. The town would need the approval of a Special Permit from the Planning and Zoning Commission to use the site for a new school.

"We know how important these two programs are to the community of Ridgefield and [Ridgefield Public Schools], and together, we are committed to ensuring that our students have the best possible space to meet their needs," the two wrote. "We also recognize that we have a tight timeline in which to make decisions regarding the future home of these programs, and you can be assured that we are working closely to secure the best possible location."

Marconi and Da Silva did not disclose the reasons for not signing the lease, but asked for patience while the process sorts itself out.
