Ridgefield Local Hero 'Advocates Tirelessly For Her Patients'

Ridgefield nursing home physical therapist Sue Laub has been battling on the COVID-19 War front lines since Day One.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

Lori Eaton nominated nursing home physical therapist and Ridgefield resident Sue Laub as a Patch Local Hero.

Eaton said that Laub "stepped up as interim rehab manager" when the facility's manager fell ill with COVID-19.

"Not only did she have to assume manager responsibilities but had to carry a full caseload of patients (many of whom who have the COVID virus)," Laub tole Patch. "While performing these two demanding positions she was reaching out to local organizations, etc. to obtain the proper (personal protection equipment) for the therapists in our department to treat COVID-19 patients safely.

Laub's days are "long and arduous but she continues to advocate tirelessly for her patients and her staff," Eaton, her co-worker, said. "She not only treats the patients with COVID-19 she assists with the care and needs of the other residents on the COVID wing who are not on active physical therapy."

Eaton says that Laub is a "team player," and will always stand up and do the right thing, "no matter what."
