Ridgefield Man Accused Of Sexual Assault At NJ Hotel Arrested: Redding Police

A Ridgefield​ man accused of sexually assaulting someone at a New Jersey hotel was recently arrested, according to Redding police.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — A Ridgefield man accused of sexually assaulting someone at a hotel in New Jersey earlier this year was arrested Tuesday, according to Redding police.

In a news release, Police Capt. Timothy Succi said the department received information on March 11 from the Bergen County, N.J., Prosecutor's Officer about a possible sexual assault at a Days Inn hotel that occurred back in February.

Redding police immediately launched an investigation that involved both state and federal law enforcement partners, Succi said.

After an approximately three-month long investigation, police identified David Birkrant, 45, of Ridgefield, as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He turned himself into police Tuesday, according to Succi.

Birkrant was charged with employing a minor in an obscene performance, second-degree sexual assault, commercial sexual abuse of minor, soliciting sexual acts, harmful communications with a minor and injury or risk of injury to, or impairing morals of children, sale of children.

Birkrant was held on a $250,000 bond, which he was unable to post. He was then taken to court for arraignment Tuesday, Succi said.

Aspects of the investigation remain active as of Wednesday, according to Succi.
