Ridgefield Man Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges

A Ridgefield man faces up to 10 years in prison following his guilty plea to federal child pornography charges.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — A Ridgefield man has pleaded guilty to a charge related to possessing and accessing images and videos depicting child sex abuse material, according to the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Nicholas Skirkanich, 44, pleaded guilty in Hartford Superior Court on Wednesday to accessing with intent to view and possessing child pornography. The offense carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years. Sentencing has been scheduled for May 15. Skirkanich was released on a $150,000 bond pending sentencing.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in October 2022, an online service provider alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to a TikTok video containing child sex abuse imagery that was sent from Skirkanich’s email account to another email account. Further investigation revealed that Skirkanich possessed and accessed additional material containing child sex abuse imagery between approximately Aug. 2021 and Dec. 2022, according to the U.S. District Attorney's Office. Skirkanich was arrested on Dec. 15, 2022.

This matter is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with the assistance of the Ridgefield Police Department.
