Ridgefield Police Report Uptick in Arrests and Motor Vehicle Accidents Over Summer Months
Ridgefield sees rise in arrests, motor vehicle stops, and accidents from May through July 2025, police data shows.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield police reported a steady increase in several key public safety metrics over the course of May, June, and July 2025, with notable rises in arrests, motor vehicle stops, and accidents, according to department data.
The number of arrests more than quadrupled from three in June to 14 in July, after 10 were recorded in May. While no DUI cases were reported in July, two occurred in May and one in June.
Motor vehicle stops, which remained steady at 299 in both May and July, dipped significantly to 168 in June. Motor vehicle accidents rose consistently each month—from 33 in May to 44 in June and 46 in July.

Security checks also increased sharply during the summer, climbing from 330 in May to 565 in June and then to 787 in July.
Domestic incidents showed a gradual rise, moving from seven in both May and June to nine in July. Reports of identity theft and fraud peaked in June at 10 incidents, before declining slightly to eight in July.

Overall, the total number of incidents each month reflected an upward trend: 1,717 in May, 1,627 in June, and 2,087 in July.
