“Our members are proud to endorse this bipartisan team,” said Detective Ryan. “Commissioners Coffin, Dornfeld, and Frey have consistently demonstrated fairness, respect, and sound judgment in their oversight of the Ridgefield Police Department. They take the time to listen — to officers and residents alike — and they understand that maintaining a safe community depends on mutual trust and collaboration. Their leadership has helped ensure that Ridgefield remains one of the safest towns in Connecticut. We are fortunate to have such steady, responsible advocates for both our officers and our residents.”
Marcie Coffin (R) has lived in Ridgefield for 30 years with her husband, Peter, who grew up in town. They have two adult sons, Will and Charlie. Marcie has served as a Police Commissioner for 15 years, including several terms as Chairman. A Certified Public Accountant, she has worked at Fairfield County Bank for 25 years and currently serves as the Bank’s Risk Management Officer, overseeing compliance, fraud, and security. An active community volunteer, Marcie has supported organizations including RVNAHealth, the Ridgefield Library, SPHERE, and Sunrise Cottage. Peter and Marcie were named Rotary Citizens of the Year in 2014.

“It’s been a privilege to serve on the Ridgefield Board of Police Commissioners and to support the men and women of the Ridgefield Police Department,” said Coffin. “Our community is fortunate to have such a dedicated and professional team committed to protecting and serving the residents of Ridgefield with integrity and excellence.”
Sharon Dornfeld (D) was first elected to the Ridgefield Board of Police Commissioners in 2021. A not-quite-retired attorney and former adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University School of Law, Sharon and her husband, Bill, have lived in Ridgefield for more than 40 years, where they raised their family. Sharon believes that a strong community depends on active civic participation, and she has served in a variety of roles with town committees and nonprofit organizations.
“I’m especially proud to be associated with our fine Police Department,” Dornfeld said. “They deserve all the support we can give them, and I’m currently focused on helping to promote the passage of the November 4referendum to approve the proposed Public Safety Building.”
John Frey (R) is a lifelong Ridgefield resident and has served on the Police Commission for six years, including two years as Chairman. A real estate broker since 1987, he represented Ridgefield in the Connecticut House of Representatives for 22 years, where he built strong relationships with local, state, and federal officials. Throughout his public service, John was endorsed by both the Ridgefield Police and Fire Unions as well as the Connecticut State Police Union. He was named Legislator of the Year by the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association in 2001. John has also held leadership roles with numerous local organizations, including Lounsbury House, RVNAHealth, the Ridgefield Playhouse, Meals on Wheels, and the Ridgefield Historical Society, and served as Chairman of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission. He was named Rotary Citizen of the Year in 2023.
“I have long admired and worked with the men and women of the Ridgefield Police Department during my tenure both in the state legislature and more recently on the Police Commission and am grateful for their support” Frey said. “It is my honor to support them as they continue to provide exemplary service to our community.”
The Ridgefield Police Commission election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, along with other local elections.
