The Ridgefield Republican Town Committee (RTC) is seeking candidates to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Education. Sean McEvoy has submitted his letter of resignation from the Board effective January 8, 2026. The RTC extends our deepest gratitude to Sean for his transformative leadership to the BOE, and we wish Sean and his family happiness in all of their future endeavors.

Per the Ridgefield Town Charter, elective boards such as the Board of Education, a vacancy must be filled by a person who is a member of the same political party as the party on whose row the vacating board member was elected. Sean’s vacated seat is to be filled by a Republican. The person appointed to the vacancy will fill the remaining term of that board seat, until November 2, 2027.

The RTC requests that any registered Ridgefield Republican, who may be interested in filling this seat to please send a letter of intent and background to info@ridgefieldrtc.org by 5:00PM on Friday, January 23, 2026. The RTC subcommittee may interview potential candidates and the RTC may send an endorsement to the Board of Education for its consideration. You will be required to interview with the BOE at a future BOE meeting. If approved by the BOE, you will fill the role for the remainder of the term through November 2, 2027.
