RIDGEFIELD, CT — Connecticut is full of bright, driven young people making a difference in and out of the classroom. That’s why Patch and T-Mobile have teamed up to spotlight students excelling in academics, athletics and community service.

Along with being a top student with a GPA of 4.0 at Laurel Springs School, a private online academy, Ruby Weiner is a member of the National Honor Society and a leading community service activist in Ridgefield. She has created 6 Little Free Freestanding Food Pantries for Ridgefield, which are currently part of the Town’s Social Services program. This year, Ruby founded “Club Sandwich,” a volunteer-based initiative where people of all ages (5 years to 95 years!) gather at The Meetinghouse of Ridgebury Congregational Church and assemble 120 sandwich meals monthly for the clients of The Dorothy Day House of Danbury. Ruby has skated for over 12+ years, and is a nationally ranked competitive figure skater in two disciplines: freestyle and solo ice dance. She is currently ranked #1 nationally, at the Novice Solo Combined level, and recently won her first International Competition where she represented the USA and Skating Club of NY.
