Ridgefield Winter Club Opponents Suffer Setback: Report
Local zoners voted on a proposed amendment to the town's zoning regulations Tuesday night.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Those in opposition of the proposed Ridgefield Winter Club suffered a setback in their efforts Tuesday night, reports the Ridgefield Press. The town's planning and zoning commission Tuesday denied an amendment to the town's zoning code, which would remove the term "private club" from the list of permitted uses in residential zones.

Over 30 members spoke in support of the change, and over 100 residents attended the hearing. The Press report indicate much of those in attendance were in favor of the amendment.

The proposed club would be located at 340 Peaceable St., the location of the former Peaceable Farm near the New York border. The proposed club would have parking for 102 cars, an outdoor ice rink and a clubhouse with a restaurant and bar.
Residents have also petitioned against the club.
