Ridgefield's 2 Middle Schools Among Top 50 In CT: U.S. News
U.S. News researchers based the 2025 ranking of the nation's best public middle schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield's two middle schools are among the top 50 in the state of Connecticut, according to new rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.
East Ridge Middle School was ranked 33rd, while Scotts Ridge Middle School came in at No. 36.
U.S. News researchers based the 2025 ranking of the nation's best public middle schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. The researchers analyzed 59,128 middle schools for the report.

The methodology for the rankings focused on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in math and reading/language arts, while also accounting for students' background and their achievements in core subjects. Student-teacher ratios were applied to break ties.
At East Ridge, according to U.S. News, 66 percent of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 74 percent scored at or above that level for reading.
At Scotts Ridge, 64 percent of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 75 percent scored at or above that for reading.
Both schools have an 11:1 student-to-teacher ratio.

The rankings are intended as an evaluation tool to give parents a snapshot of how well schools provide a high-quality education and prepare students for a successful future, LaMont Jones, managing editor for Education at U.S. News, said in a news release.
